Some people call it pay as you go MTN mobile solar electricity because you are required to be paid weekly, monthly, yearly subscriptions before you can be able to use MTN mobile solar Electricity and that is why some people call it pay as you go, you can see their subscription plans here.
I happened to be one of the first people that went for the MTN solar mobile electricity to power my Laptop 24/7 and I spent 46,000 plus for the initial payment, 3 months subscription and installation fee, etc, though they are now doing promo and you will not spend up to 46k as I did.
A few weeks ago I regretted paying for Mtn solar mobile electricity and it started when my DC TO AC inverter got burnt and I was told to go to their office for a replacement because according to them the maintenance or any replacement will be done by them until after 5 years when it becomes mine completely.
When I went to the MTN office for the replacement of the inverter I was told that there was no inverter available that they will contact me once the inverter is available.
Looking at the image above you will see the small black inverter as labeled above that MTN and Lumos cannot provide for their customers and until date, I have not gotten the inverter and whenever I try to contact customer care they will always tell me to exercise some patience and nothing more.
Without the DC to AC inverter you cannot do any other thing with the MTN solar mobile electricity apart from few bulbs or to charge your phone in the end you will be paying like N4,500 every month.
The inverter helps to connect the extension sockets that will enable you to connect your TV, Laptops, Fans, etc but without it, none of this can be possible and for me that paid for it so that I can be able to power my laptop but for almost 2 weeks now the MTN solar mobile electricity is useless to me and my subscription is going.
How I discovered the Alternative
I went to the market to look for a replacement for the MTN solar DC TO AC inverter but I couldn’t see any of them and I decided to search online and finally discovered an alternative replacement from Jumia that is, even more, stronger and reliable than the one that came with the MTN Lumos solar system.
